Locking AR

I just picked up an AR and I don't see how a cable lock or master lock trigger guard lock will secure it. Any recommendations?

Get a cable lock and run it up the mag well and out the ejection port. If you're going to transport the rifle a lockable case is easier.

Cable locks are useless. It takes less than a second with a pair of heavy diagonal cutters to get a cable lock off. I've had to do it when I lost the key to one. After I realized how easy it is do destroy them, I haven't bothered to put one on any of my guns since.

Just take the firing pin out.

Trigger lock is useless too. Even easier to remove than cable lock. Youtube has many vodeos of kids removing them in seconds.

My twelve year old can. But he is smart enough not to touch it when I am not around.

Why not just pull the bolt and carrier and lock those up seperately? Much smaller and easier to secure, and the rifle isn't much of a rifle without it.
