He woke up to investigate a noise and ended up finding an intruder.

That break-in happened on Republic Ct. off of Liberty Rd. overnight.

But the burglar and his lookout left empty handed, after the homeowner fired multiple shots at the people who invaded his home.

People living here on Republic Ct. say it's always a quiet neighborhood. But early Wednesday morning, someone broke in the front door of this home, forcing his way inside.

The homeowner acted quickly to put an end to the invasion.

It was an alarming way to wake up.

"He was home when he heard his front door being kicked in," says Lt. Melissa Sedlaczek, with Lexington Police.

Then the homeowner got out of bed to see what was going on, and he made sure to be prepared.

"He got his weapon, came into the hallway, when he turned on the light he saw the subject standing in the hallway.....
