Under H.R. 5717, firearms would be taxable at 30%, and ammunition would be taxable at 50%. A portion of these taxes would be used toward gun violence prevention research.

Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., introduced in January H.R. 5717, a bill to allegedly reduce gun violence. What it does is make it very expensive to own and use a gun.

If passed it would, among other measures, require individuals to obtain a FEDERAL LICENSE to possess firearms, raise the minimum age for purchasing firearms and require law enforcement to be notified when an individual does not pass a background check.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., introduced in February a companion bill, S. 3254. Both proposals aim to restrict a class of firearms banned from 1994 to 2004 under a federal law that expired. Companion bills are meant to “promote simultaneous consideration of a measure,” according to the Senate, USA Today reports.

It would make pistols, revolvers, and other firearms taxable at 30%. Shells and cartridges would be taxable at 50%.

What makes you think this wont get out of committee?

This is exactly what the democrats want and they are in charge.

I don't think that Harris can vote on a subcommittee and that means that unless republicans cave which unfortunately happens with great frequency lately a 50-50 vote won't move it out of committee.

See that list of cosponsors? Notice how Pelosi isn't one?

Also, ALL of the cosponsors are from hardcore moonbat districts/states where there is no political threat to them to press for gun control.

They'll slip it into an omnibus bill to pass it under reconciliation if the parliamentarian doesn't notice.

As this country was founded on dodging taxes and smuggling shit, the effects of said bill would only lead to a massive black market probably with ammo prices cheaper than what we are paying now, on top of ready availability.

This bill is racist, plain and simple. Call it what it is. It's meant to do nothing more than to tax the poor (often minorities) out of their ability to reasonably freely exercise their natural human right to self defense. Start using their own weaponized language against them. Fighting fire with fire is the only way you're gonna beat shit like this now

The bill was just announced.

It takes a few weeks to get momentum and for the rest of them to pile on.
