I believe that is indeed correct!

He was one of the founding members of a pro-gun LE org that resulted in a lot of "heat" that he got over it. End result I believe was that he was indeed fired as a PO.

If it was an officially sanctioned "uniform shirt" by his department.

Knowing his history, that was very unlikely! It was probably a police assn created shirt, not an official "uniform".

BTW: His reference to "this is illegal for civilians" probably was due to the fact that he was a CA LEO at the time and most guns seemed to be illegal there!

INTERESTING story! I never knew about that. I was a member of LEAA back in 1992. You really don't hear much about the org any more, only occasionally.
