Bearing Arms told the story about this study, which looks at youth firearms homicides related to the Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) vs the Gifford’s State Rating (A/B/C/D/F). The SVI incorporates socioeconomic, household characteristics, race and ethnic minority status, housing type and transportation of the place where the youth was killed. A high SVI rating would be poor, single parent, Black/Brown kids in public housing blocks - you get the picture.

SVI accounts for a ~10-fold range in odds of firearms homicides in both Giffords A&B states as well as Giffords D&F states. It’s not the "lax" or "strict" gun laws that matter in being shot dead, it’s everything else - poor urban slums where Black kids have no Daddy at home.

But we knew that… Shithole cities are, by definition, shit holes to live and die in.
