Foxwoods??????

Absolutely NO firearms in the casino!! Not sure of the outside grounds, the Indian reservation, but DEFINATELY NOT IN THE CASINO.

It is posted numerous places in the casino and the hotels.

Foxwoods has their own police, which are obviously armed and the CT. state police also patrol the grounds. To the best of my knowledge they are the only ones to CCW in the casinos.

Yeah, would you CCW in canada? You may as well be as it is another country.

True.
The Feds regard recognized tribal lands as sovereign nations.
This is the very reason why they can build casinos in states where they'd otherwise be illegal. They make their own laws, seperate from the laws of the state they are located in.

If you think about it, being inside a casino is one of the safest places you can possibly be. Security is watching everything that goes on, and you can't even pick your nose without being seen by at least a half dozen cameras.
I saw some security camera footage of guy who discreetly lifted a wallet from the purse of the woman sitting next to him playing a slot machine. He didn't even make it to the mens room before security grabbed him. The woman playing the slots didn't even know she was robbed until the security people gave her back the wallet.

Moheigan security does not play!
I saw what looked like secret service come into that Irish bar, they were looking for someone I would not have wanted to be!
No guns for you![laugh]
But as someone said earlier, no safer place than a casino.

None of these generate revenue like a casino.
If the sheep are scared, they won't come.
Act up at Moheigan, or Foxwoods, and you ''disapear'' quick.[laugh]

After the damage is done. There is nothing stopping anyone from walking in and smoking many people.

You read that article too! That was one spooky scenario that the law professor wrote as a training piece a few years ago. [For others, it was about a massive organized take-down of a casino.]

I don't worry about my safety INSIDE the casino. Sure a mass shooter could mow the place down, but that could happen anywhere, and if they've got the drop on me I'm screwed even armed. It's walking to/from my car with a bunch of cash late at night that worries me.

I saw some security footage from the shooting that happened at this casino. Three people dead, more wounded. You can see the video here, it's under the tab "media."

It may not be legal to carry there, but it's by no means safe.

Ya, that's what they said about, schools, military bases, churches, etc.

+1.

I have seen the security at fox woods first hand its impressive to say the least but if possible I wouls still like to carry. There are state troopers in plain clothes on duty 24/7 and they have their own mini barrcks within foxwoods. THe amazing part was how they look for cheats etc.

Jar
If you're worried about carrying cash to your car late at night then you can get an escort from security. They are more than happy to do that. It's true a casino is about as safe a place as you can be at. They would never get any business if they were being robbed or had problems on a regular basis. We're the ones that pay the cash so these places can be built.

I've been with "players" that have left with six figures worth of chips, and myself with a very substantial amount of cash and never, ever had a problem, without an escort.

The casinos also have safe deposit boxes that they let you use for free to store cash, chips or whatever if you want to use them.

You can actually leave a casino with large amounts of cash? I must be doing something wrong! [thinking]

Foxwwods Casino Security respond to the slightest problem VERY fast and VERY efficiently... there shouldn't be a need for CCW inside the casino!

A biker gang shoot-out inside a casino is a pretty rare event.
Your chances of encountering that kind of situation is far less than your chances of being killed in a car crash on the way to the casino.

Not really. They had to agree not to charge lower prices for gas and had to charge tax on cigarettes in order for the state to let them build the casino. I do not consider that as sovereign.

It was the slot machines. Federal law lets the indians run whatever "games of chance" are allowed in a state... so if the state has charity poker or blackjack or craps, those are good... but the big money for the casinos is the slots, which no place allowed, thus they negotiated to get the slots... but otherwise the indians have a pretty free hand as to laws...

So did the campus cops at Virginia Tech, and they had AR-15's too.

You're more likely to be in a car accident than a shooting pretty much anywhere other than Compton, I'd imgine. But even still, I wear my seatbelt when I drive, and I carry everywhere I'm legally able to.

That's also just one case. If you Google the term "casino shooting news" you get 2.9 million hits.

It's a business, so of course they'll tell you it's perfectly safe, and keep it quiet when something other than perfectly safe takes place on their property. But stabbings, shootings and robbery's happen all over the world, including casinos.

We can tell him it's not legal, we can tell him he probably won't need it, but I certainly don't feel comfortable telling him "I'ts one of the safest places you could possibly be."
