Just digging through some old files:

From American Rifleman, March 1979:

DCM had available 600 M1's at $112.70 each!

[Back then you were only entitled to buy one per LIFETIME!]

Yep, that's about when I got mine. I think that they whacked you for another $15 or so for shipping. Still a helluva deal, then and now. I wound up with a new IH and was somewhat disappointed that I didn't get a sling with it.

They sound so expensive now, compared to then.
Best advice: buy one now; ten years from now, today's prices will sound cheap!

Bought mine at Perry for $575 and change in 2005 - not cheap but not the most expensive one either.

Yea, I still wish it was the 1 in a lifetime deal. Makes me sad to see people buying 4 or 5 and see them show up at a gun show ( against the CMP rules ) for $200 more than what they paid for it. Yea, I know, we live in a capitalist economy and the price includes the " delivery service " so you don't have to, but damn, the process isn't that hard.

On a side note - Greek HXP is priced well at the CMP! [grin]

WOW! I wasn't even in pre-school yet! [smile]

I know a dirtbag dealer that was buying as many of these as he could each year just to resell at gun shows.
