I bought out a firearms estate some time ago. In the lot I found a box of ammo 88 Mauser (pictured on left). However, I found another box that I am unable to identify. Can anyone help identify it?

Whatever it turns out to be, if it was manufactured in 1900, it doubtless has corrosive priming (potassium clhoride vs. lead stiphnate), so if you shoot it you're going to have to really clean the rifle well.

The clips look like they are for some type of Mannlicher or for a 1888 Commission rifle. Hard to say without seeing them out of their wrapper.

ETA, the 88 Mauser handwriting and what I can see of the clip almost guarantees they are for a 1888 Commission rifle.

thanks for the input...I was able to identify the opened box...it does appear that the unopened box may also be 88 Mauser.

Definitely M88 ammo.
I've got feedback from a collector saying he couldn't identify more than I did.
Here's a pic of a package from the same month/year, just a better
readable print

I'm waiting on feedback from another collector re the manufacturer.
Can you give us the headstamp from a round of the open package ?

JuergenG,

Great job...the clearer pic is a great help. The head stamp on the open box of ammo is:

one clip that I put togeather has these two headstamps:

11
s 14
s

12
s 14
s

the other two clips have the same headstamps:

8
DM 90
E

Here is a the clearer pic you referenced:
