I don't know much about the NRA, but I think Bloomberg is correct when he says their influence is overrated. The power lies with the voters and, more directly, their elected representatives. Congressmen may blame the NRA, but the responsibility is theirs. There are lots and lots of gun owning voters who don't agree with the NRA, mostly because they are even more conservative.
