Best material to practice stippling

What is the best material to practice stippling on? I have a soldering iron with a rather dull tip... I'd like to shave it down but not too sure how far to take it want to practice a lot before I shave it and do the real thing

ummm polymer. buy a p mag for $10 to practice with before you stipple the frame of a gun. if you are worried about the tip of the soldering iron just buy a new one they are dirt cheap. I have a "fancy" one that runs on butane got it at radio shack for like $20. I bet plug in ones are cheaper

Any bits of plastic you have around. In the past, I've used old cell phone cases, airsoft parts, speedloaders, those AR pistol grips that ship in EVERY damn kit, and the aforementioned P-mags.
