I have to replace the bolt carrier key on one of my ARs. Is there a special tool to stake it in place or can you use some other tool like a small punch or nail set? Would loc-tite on the threads do as good?

Thanks..

Thanks. I think I'm just gonna take it to Santurri and let him do it because I can see me messing it up. He is Just around the corner from work.

A gunsmith told me that staking wasn't really necessary; its primary function was to keep the troops in the field from removing the key.

I have seen malfunctions at two matches due to carrier keys coming loose. I'd stake it or have someone do it if your not comfortable doing it yourself.
