The 19th of April is a week away and there is some space left at many events here in the northeast. If you've wanted to attend an Appleseed don't discount a one day shoot.

This is on the anniversary of the difficult and dangerous road to our freedom and it will be years before it happens on the DAY in which our forebears fought and bled for our Liberty. If you want to make a shoot this is the one to attend, you will not be disappointed.

The memorial volley will stir your heart. It happens simultaneously in all time zones across the country. The names of the first patriots to fall are read in sequence. "Jonas Parker, Aim, Fire!" From midnight on the 18th to sunset on the 19th, 14,000 patriots answered the "alarum". There was no internet, no cell phone and no radio. The news was spread by patriot riders. Deacon Josiah Haynes of Sudbury was plowing his field with his ox when a young man ran out, yelling "Deacon, Deacon, the regulars our out and coming to Concord to take our muskets and powder." Josiah unhitched his ox, ran to the house, grabbed his musket, bag and powder horn and ran from Sudbury to Concord 'leaving the young men breathless behind him'.

Deacon Haynes was 80 years old. He didn't want to miss it. He died that day, brought down by a Redcoat musket ball. How do we know these things? Our forefathers painstakingly wrote it down for us with quill pens. Come to an Appleseed. You will learn history you never learned in school. You will reconnect with our shared heritage.

Looks like the weather will be pretty clear throughout the northeast for the 19th. Plus, no bugs!

Hope that a few folks waiting for favorable weather conditions jump in.
