I picked up another Imperial German rifle to add another model to the Mauser collection, and to keep my new Gew 98 company.

This one is a 1914 Erfurt Kar 98a. It's gone through a post WWI rebuild, and by the looks of the 1940 dated sling and duffel cut, it probably came to the US following WWII. No import marks. The gun itself was reblued, but seemed to escape any Weimar or Third Reich stamps. A few of the smaller parts are force matched replacements.

But overall, it's a really nice gun. Many pics, and thanks for looking.

Thanks.

I won't be repairing the duffel cut for a couple of reasons. First, it is part of the proper history of the gun. I've got a half dozen or so with duffel cuts, and I've left them all as found.

And secondly, the rear band screw hole through the stock is sleeved, and I would need to make a filler which would equal the width of the saw cuff, if I wished for the band screw to still line up with the sleeve.
