CONCORD (AP) — The New Hampshire attorney general's office said a Londonderry fire lieutenant was justified when he shot his wife to death outside their home.
A report issued Wednesday said it was reasonable for Gary Dion of Newbury to believe his life was in danger after Karen Dion fired a shotgun outside their house and then threatened him with the same gun.
Authorities said Gary Dion fired four shots with a handgun at Karen Dion, hitting her twice.
Police said Karen Dion had been drinking prior to the shooting.
The report said her mental state had deteriorated in the aftermath of an accident that kept her from working.
