A shooting in a Seattle parking lot Friday night wounded five people, including two who were in critical condition, the city's police chief said.

The Seattle Police Department responded to a reported shooting around 9 p.m. in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South.

The shooting started in the parking lot of what was formerly known as King Donuts and was directed at a community event occurring nearby, Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz said at the scene.

The five victims included two who were listed in critical condition and three who appeared to be stable. Four victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and the fifth was treated at the scene, Diaz said.

"We know that there's dozens and dozens of rounds that were fired," said Diaz, who noted police were not sure of a possible motive.

"Too many guns are in the wrong places and in the wrong hands. This is a critical part of the city, and one of the most diverse areas in the country and it's our responsibility to protect it."

Did he say “most diverse” or “most dangerous”? Same thing…

Dozens and dozens .... heh. That's nothin' ... that's a Saturday afternoon in certain Chicago neighborhoods. Some time back the good folks at Hey Jackass added Chicago Shot Spotter data to their page ... as of July 22 ... the CPD public info pages report more than 100,000 detected gun shots. Think about that ... One Hundred Thousand. I'm thinking almost that many rounds have been fired by Ukrainian troops against the Rooskies ;-)
Here's the link to the specific "tile" from Hey Jackass ...

If I wrote the headline it would be:

"Dozens of rounds fired, amounting to only five injured, we must stop wasting ammo this way"

So, in effect, you're advocating for gun control [rofl]

There was a thread showing the NRA's Eddie Eagle training video was better at keeping kids safe then our society's answer which is to glorify violence in movies but vilify responsible people that are only interested in keeping themselves and their families safe.

Gun control IS the answer. (control your gun) [laugh]

Seattle has an excellent homicide clearance rate - they remove the bodies from the street within 24 hours.

The city leaders know that stinky and rotting dead bodies left in the street affects tourism, gotta' protect that cash cow.

So, in effect, you're advocating for gun control [rofl]

I'm advocating for making every shot count, ammo is expensive.
