I have a 550B and I am using an older set of Lee dies for doing .38spl.

It seems that in order to get the case far enough up into the seating die to get a crimp, I had to screw the die so far down into the tool head that I had to back off the locking nut to the point that there are not enough threads exposed on the die to engage. This doesn't seem right. If I dont do this, I cant get a crimp.

Anyone else doing .38spl on Lee dies?

i use Lee Dies on a Lee Press but not on a Dillion. which die are you using? the factory crimp die or the older bullett seating and crimp die?

Suggestion: Get a Lee Factory Crimp Die, thus separating the seating and crimping function. The FCD will also full-length size the cartridge, almost eliminating feeding issues.

Ill agree with Scriv here. Makes it much more easier. Been using one for 9mm and it works great.
