School me on the .38 Super

I have been shooting pistols for the last 40 years, have always had an interest in the .38 super but never bought one I am a 1911 fan so thinking about buying one for my bucket list. Have also been reloading for almost as long. So give me the good the bad and the ugly.

I would like to grab the discontinued Blued model #00991 it just has a nice classic look to it. A Colt 1911 in 38 super was the first semi auto handgun that I shot back when I was a teenager, so it has a soft spot with me...
