I thought Regionals had to be 100shot matches?

I don't think so. I think that's just the way it evolved in Massachusetts. Somebody told me "back in the day" the guys down there couldn't shoot for crap on their feet, but could really nail it prone, so they added another 20rds prone to bump their aggregates up. When New Hampshire started hosting the Regional, they just continued with the 100rds.

I swear to God I didn't make that up.

Edit: "back in the day" means way before any of us picked up a rifle
