Scored a pretty nice M44 on GB. My first mosin!

All matching #s. Bore looks clean. Bolt is a little tight, but there's still some cosmo oozing out of a few spots, so I've gotta get that cleaned up. Rails look minty. Not shot much, if at all. Bayo doesn't lock back and it's kinda floppy when extended. Probably gonna take it off unless i can tighten it up somehow.

anyways, here's some pics:

Now just gotta get a can of ammo and go make some fire balls![smile]

Cool. I enjoy shooting my Chinese Type 53 (copy of the M44) much more than my M91/30. I don't know why but I'm much more accurate with the T53. It makes a bigger fireball and the felt recoil is less as well. Just realized I haven't shot any 7.62x54r since the Pumpkin Blast in November. Gotta get on that.

Is that a 1947?

If so, the collar is correct for the year, but the lug is not. They used the single tooth lug on the early (43-late 45) m44s.

I tried searching a bit for a single ear collar but seems most vendors are sold out

Hard to tell in the pic but its a 1944.

I just found a correctly collared bayo lurking on the gunboards classifieds. No place else that I checked had these.
