I picked this up earlier this month just because all the numbers matched and it was in great shape. It came out of a crate of all nice looking MN's. The last crate the store had were mixed up counter bored crap. I looked at it 3 times so I was kind of surprised it was still there when I went to buy it.

Looks great. Is it a pre-war stock?

Are the pics after cleanup?
The metal looks new like it was blued yesterday. Is the stock lemon oiled?

i haven't decided how best to wipe down the stock on the M44. I hear mineral spirits is a no no on the shellac finish.

Thats how it came out of the crate. I only wipe them down with Hoppes. I like the stocks just the way they are when I get them.

What a great find! May I ask how much that ran ya?

I paid $179 which is really twice what I should have paid.

Wow I would think that's quite a deal. I paid $269.99 for my M44 carbine that was in decent shape and already had the cosmoline removed. I'd like to pick up another carbine.
