I still feel that the auto 5 shotgun was his most advanced desing for its time. There are moments when Im shooting trap with mine, hunting with it, or cleaning it that I'm just in awe that he designed that semi auto shotgun prior to 1900 (patented the design in 1898).

I like them so much that I bought 2 of them. (Sort of) I have 2 Remington Model 11s, one a 1926 model, one a 1939 (if I recall correctly) and they are amazing to shoot!

Even then it was 2-3 years to get a patent granted. Not much has changed !

Same here, I have 4 of them. Took my first deer with a Sweet Sixteen Auto 5. I have 2 of them, a Belgian and a Jap, a Jap light 20 and a Magnum 12 made in Belgium that was my dads deer gun.

Im glad both my dad and my uncle were Browning guy's Neither of them made a lot of money, but when it came to buying their guns, they wanted blued steel, quality, fit and finish. The best of the day was Browning...

To this day I'm in awe of all his designs, from the Winchesters, to the 37 Ithaca, Superposed, BAR, Auto-5, all the military stuff. Just amazing.
