Well, maybe he was the Bizarro World's Zorro. He stamped his "Z" backwards.
Anyway, I got his gun. 20th Series Kokura Arsenal Type-99 Arisaka short rifle, in 7.7mm. Other than an unfortunately sanded stock, mismatched bolt, missing monopod and dust cover, it's really in pretty good shape. AA sights are intact, excellent bore, very crisp 20lb trigger pull, and a mum with a bizarro Z.
I forgot to take a close-up pic of the front sling swivel while I still had daylight, but it has a different narrow shape at the top than the swivels on my other Type-99's. Original finish is still inside the finger grooves - wishing it was on the whole stock.
$100 from a guy legally wandering around at a gun show.
