Yugo M24/47 Mauser With a Hitchhiker

After posting on another forum, a member prodded me to look a little closer at the stock on this Yugo M24/47.

It seems it picked up a hitchhiker (stone or metal shrapnel), which is still lodged against the crossbolt nut on the right side of the stock. Two other small holes in the stock appear to have been plugged with wood during refurbishment.

Anyway, nothing else too special, except the price at the show. $160 OTD.

Good looking piece! What are the black splotches on the wood from though?

Unsure. But the wood itself is slightly degraded where it is black, such as from a burn or from a liquid which penetrated the grain and began to decay.
