You're Not Going To Believe This AR Caliber (.22-250) and Who Made the Barrel...

No but that would be awesome.

Finally took the above upper out to the range today.

Lower is an old Aero M5 that I have been using for my 6.5 Creedmoor. .22-250 uses same receiver and BCG. A few months ago a friend gave me a pile of .22-250 ammo, some brass, and a set of dies. The blazing speed of .22-250 always intrigued me and with the gift of so much ammo, I started looking for options to shoot it.

Once I saw a very good deal on a barrel, it was a no brainer to jump in. ~$150 on sale & a discount coupon, plus shipping and tax. The only catch was it was made by the much maligned Bear Creek Arsenal. I had all the other parts, so what the hell...

Honestly, Bear Creek did a very good job on this barrel. Perhaps they farm it out, but if that's the case they did a good job vetting suppliers. It shot several groups under 1 MOA excepting one that I screwed up and pulled a shot for around 1.25 MOA. One group was around half MOA but I think that was a random anomaly. Looks like it's going to shoot ~0.85 MOA with the factory ammo. It's a slow twist barrel, so I'll need to feed it 40 to 60 grain pills.

Yawn. Wake me when it’s .50 BMG.
As Rodney Dangerfield would say, "Ooh, tough crowd, tough crowd."

I do have a 50 and some SLAP rounds. You shoot and I'll hold the camera-

The 6mm-250 was tried, with varying degrees of success, as a match rifle. It had the accuracy, but reliability killed it.
