You need to keep that shotgun clean !

Dropped my 870 last year getting out of the kayak, shook it off and finished my time hunting. Oiled it up when I got home went out hunting a few days later, action was a little crunchy but still went bang.
Put it away for the season pulled it out last week, was still crunchy. Stripped it down a few days before duck opened, killed 3 Woody's this year and missed on a bunch more.
I pulled pine needles and a dried leaf ( maybe a lily pad ) out when I stripped it down, gun cleaned up fine. I am hard on this gun the most, but it's never let me down, guess I am lucky or it's a just a mechanical contraption built to take it.

That's not going to hurt anything so long as it gets wiped down, dried, and lubricated.

We'd fresh water rinse our weapons all the time after amphibious ops, or heavy mud.

Isn't that the reason they invented WD40?
Yup .. Water Displacement formula number 40. The first 39 attempts didn't work. Was originally used (I think) in the space program for cleaning rocket pieces-parts, maybe engines. The technicians loved the stuff so much, they started bringing it home and using around their houses. Management got wind of this after a while, changed the name of the company and started mass marketing the stuff.

I got two colors of lube, blue and red blue for the winter reds for the summer. That’s over 100° you might want to change your ammo?
