You forgot NB, Brockton, and Fitchburg. [rofl] And likely a few others.

I call it Fail River but like every other big dump city in MA not every person that grew up there is an a**h***.

I don't think anyone here ever said it was "nice."

Did you get any of the bad batch when they changed machinery and it tasted like the big mamie smells?

Nah, it's huge in Fall River too. I have a lot of family in upstate NY(outside of Syracuse, you'd think you were in Alabama up there) and we were at the diner when I was like 12(the cool place in town). I asked for a coffee milk, waitress brought me a cup off coffee and a glass of milk. I was like wth is this? She said "you wanted coffee and a milk?" "no I wanted coffee milk" my aunt was like "baby they don't have that up here" What??? Also called the pizza parlor down the street from my cousins and asked for a chourico grinder, you'd think I was speaking Japanese to the guy on the phone. And when I asked my cousin up there for a fork and knife she thought I was swearing at her lol. Didn't you know, Fall River is the center of the universe!

No joke! I still get a batch now and again that smells rancid. I have contacted them to let them know I showed up with the box and gave me a 5 pound bag of noodles.

Malasadas. (sp??). Pass! Fried dough should NEVER. EVER! have granulated sugar on it. Yuck. Just the completely wrong texture.

I thought they were just rancid. Wow. Bad machinery. I still open teh noodles first-thing when I start making it to be sure they are OK.

My asst, FR born and bred, buys the 5# bag of noodles and puts them in the freezer. I don't need that many. We eat it about 1x/mo. A box works well for us.

    ROFL!!!!! "I don't gut no cahhh. . . . b'cuz my license is suspended for. . . . driving on a suspended license. . . . for like duh 3rd time." I feel like I know that guy!

Yeah, they had a fire BACK IN BUSINESS: Oriental Chow Mein Company returns after devastating fire and got new machinery which did that to the noodles lol.

Born and raised there too. When I started working in Boston(1996) I went to the Longwood food court. I grabbed an order of chicken chow mein from the Chinese place in there and sat down to eat. I opened it up and brought it back to the counter. A little old lady was working there and I was like "I wanted chow mein not lo mein" she looked at it and said "no, lo mein" i said "no this is lo mein I want chow mein, can I please have chow mein?" "no, this chow mein!!" "lady this isn't chow mein, if I wanted lo mein I would have ordered it, I want chow mein". We went back and forth for a couple minutes yelling at each other lol. I just thought Fall River chow mein was the only kind, no idea it was different outside of that area.

My wife is Portuguese - gained a wife and 30lbs when I got married.

Fall River still has a few good Portuguese restaurants but most are Americanized now.
