First chainsaws had no anti vibration and manual chain oilers . At the end of the day you had to have a couple stiff drinks to get the circulation back in your fingers or at least it was the excuse you gave the wife . And I really miss pumping your fuel THEN going pay for it .

I had to use my smart phone as a magnifying glass the other day, to trim my toenails. Mrs. Pipes was dying laughing. That's ok though, the next day I substituted decafe for her morning coffee and she was falling asleep all day.

You watched shows like Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits when they were first broadcast.

You saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show live.

When westerns were considered good clean entertainment.

You remember what black and white TVs did to the reflection on chrome.

My dad would when asked by me, go to the local hardware store and buy a box of 22LR's, deducting it from my allowance. I would then go to that store when needed and ask for a number of rounds. He would get my marked named box off the shelf and issue me what I wanted that day for ammo and put the remaining rounds in the box back on the shelf. I was 10 at the time.

I think there was some law that I being 10, could not buy the ammo, but it could be given to me if it was paid for.

I may have been carded as many as three times in my life. When I was 21 I went to the packie for a celebratory six pack and the lady at the counters said, "Oh Pipes! Happy Birthday! And how's your Grammy doing?" Small towns...

Can you remember driving a truck that the clutch and brake pedals come out of the floor and not the dash? How about using a solenoid starter button on the floor that you pushed with your toe to start the truck? I won't even go into the chain drive Sterlings and a beautiful LJ Mack with a coal body that the company I worked for in High School still had stashed in the garage.

I remember when drunk driving was considered a joke. I even have a "Traveler's Thirst Aid Kit" which is a box with literature clearly intending people to drink these while driving.

    Man, you are old!

When the drinking age was 18, my buddy was coming to pick me up in his grandmother’s 1962 Chevy when he ran a stop sign while slightly inebriated, almost hitting a police car. The police told him to slow down and be more careful if he was going to drive after drinking.....

In 1969 I hitched a ride downtown with my brother, going to the bar hosting his going away party (to USMC) . Once he went in the bar, by prior arrangement with his buddies, I opened the hood, pulled out the coil wire, and put it in the glove box.

He insisted on driving himself home, so they hung around while they watched him crank and crank, then gave him a ride home, saving his life....They figured if he was sober enough to open the hood and find the missing wire, all good.
