Winner post #102 45 collector
congrats and thanks for playing
Match IS CLOSED . , in part due to climate change.
When the climate changes back to cold it will be over...Thinking of a Halloween extension time?

Rules :
Entries: post picture of target and firearm along with ammunition and brief info on firearm. Unlimited re-entries with each new target
You can post any targets shot in 2019 until 9/23
Shots: going with 15 rounds per target
Prizes: Luck of the draw for target entries . Prizes to be announced. I will be gathering stuff all summer and it will go into a USPS flat rate box. Winner to be drawn at random at match end. I will have some other random prize pools added as the match progresses.
Highest score gets an amazing 1min of bragging rights
Firearms: Any carbine type firearm used during WWII. Reproductions/clones/copies are ok .
Ammo: What ever you feel safe using in your firearm?
Targets : Keep it simple any variant of the SR target even reduced targets.
Distance 25,50,100,200 yards with appropriate reduced targets. Since score is not much of a issue in this match I decided as long as the target is close in size to the aiming black its good.
Distance and target
200 yards SR or 13" aiming black
100 yards SR1 or 6.3" aiming black
50 yards A23 or 3.8" aiming black
25 yards B2 or A7/5 or a 2.3" aiming black. So if you just want to draw a aiming black dot and post for entry go ahead.
As much as I like to see the same targets or styles used its not important post your carbeen.
You can find the reduced targets here
Silver City Gun Club Targets

Match begins NOW..... If you shot your carbine already this year go ahead and enter those!!!

See sample post below

Prize Pack: 1 pre ban 15 round M1 Carbine mag , 1 M2 BALL Bandoleer/Clips/Carboards 1977/78 no ammo, some 30 carbine brass. I have other items related to this league. Anything you dont want or cant use karma/pass it along to those that can

Thanks for playing

If I hadn't passed on the M44 carbine a while back, I'd be in on this.
Looking forward to the targets.

I did get to fire majspud's carbine once, it's my only experience with one.
The SKS is technically a carbine, but it's post WW2. Actually, isn't the K98k technically a "WW2 carbine"?

Any WWII carbine , i kind of forgot about the M44 ,
Might drag out the carcano also

The K98 is a carbine. So shoot it

Isn't the K for Karabiner which is German for carbine?

Ok does anyone know if Krags were ever used in WW2 so I can enter with my 1896 src?

The Germans disarmed the Danish in the spring of 1941 and sent them home for prison guards and rear guard troops. So technically, Sgt. Schultz and his Krag is actually correct...although it was an American Krag. But the Americans modeled their Krag after the Danish M89, but ours lost the barrel cover, the loading door hinged down instead of forward, and our bolt was swept.

Look out; reacquired my hand built shooter last week. This was my target on 17.4.17...miss was a skip bang from ‘53 Yugo ammo; next 5 in the black. Thanks again to Gil for letting me buy it back. I built it from a Depot XII RC action that used a bcd42 receiver.

So I ask
1. Do we need to set some "carbine rules and definitions"

A. i say if its official name is carbine then its good.
B. We could set barrel length limits? Ex: 20" or less?

typically a carbine is under 20" in barrel length. I think 20" or more is definitely a rifle.

If I hadn't passed on the M44 carbine a while back, I'd be in on this.
Looking forward to the targets.
I've got a m44 and a m38. Heading out to the range in a bit with the 38 I think and I'll see how it goes.

Stopped at my LGS that usually carry official targets and they were out of stock. This target will have to do so no actual score for me.

M38 mosin
1942 izzy manufacture
Ammo was tula 147 grain
100 yards
13 on the paper 2 hit just left
Shooting seated elbows on bench
I definitely need to get the front sight moved a bit she hits a schooch left. If I take a few minutes to drift that sight that would be a pretty decent centered group. Elevations not bad my point of aim was the orange center.

Thanks this was a good excuse to get the old carbine out and make some noise.

LOL You just answered my question.

Staying in Volgograd tonight, formerly Stalingrad. Apparently Stalin lived where I am staying in 1918 or 19.
