PS: I think it is a very cool knife even for a reproduction. Mine came with a very thick and sticky grease to protect it. I cleaned it off with alcohol and then rubbed a gun wax with carnauba wax to stop the blade from rusting because it does not say stainless steel. With the wax it buffs up very shiny.
I use this on all my long guns & pistols. It is very good stuff and the price reflects it. You don't need very much. I rub it on with my finger then buff it with a cloth then repeat the process.
If you read the history of them you would understand that Floyd Nichols made them for all the boys in his county that went to war during WWII. The families asked him to make one for their sons to take into battle with them. He made them and sent each one to each soldier in HIS COUNTY in NEBRASKA. They were not sold by a distributor or store.
Atlanta Cutlery told me that they only have about 20 lift in stock and they are closing them out.
That guy thought he was going to get a hand made knife for 50$ with a 40$ Indian head nickel soldered to the solid brass handle. If you want a better one pay 3000$ for an original. I am very pleased with mine and think it will look great displayed on my mantle over the fire place.
