Description: 2x72" horizontal/vertical belt grinder with a 2HP (3 phase) motor running off a KB Electronics KBAC-29 VFD (setup to use 240v power). Gas spring for tracking arm tension (instead of a conventional spring) as shown in pictures. Holds belts TIGHT. Ceramic glass platen installed and a spare provided (2"x10"). I used some 3M VHB tape (1" wide) to get the platen secured to the machine.. I made/installed a piece of steel to act as a stop for the glass platen to prevent it from slipping off (due to heat generated when grinding). Also created a handle to use for changing belts to make it easier. All wheels are aluminum, with the drive wheel being 7" diameter. Uses 1-1/2" tool arms (universal) so you can always add more for different things. Like a larger contact wheel.
Work rest notched to go beyond the platen when used vertically. When you flip it to horizonal, simply rotate the work rest 180 degrees and you have a full flat surface to work with. Work rest can also be angle adjusted as desired. There's also some room to raise it higher on the setup (a couple inches of vertical travel).
Platen can also be adjusted for angle if you wish.
Grinder main body is bolted to the stand with 3/8" bolts. VFD mount is also secured with 3/8" bolts. VFD is at a 45 degree angle for better visibility and close to where you would stand to allow easier speed adjustments, or to stop the motor without reaching beyond the moving belt (safety thing). The VFD mount is made from 1/4" cold rolled steel.
This is a BEAST of a grinder. With the 2HP motor, variable speeds via the VFD, and the thickness of the stock used to make it (all plate either 3/8" or 1/2" thick, square tubing 1/4" wall).
Power cord to the VFD (from wall outlet) is long (over 6'). Plug is not molded to it, so you can change as needed for your setup.

Selling this due to the $$ being better placed into the "new house fund" instead of the machine. Originally started the project before I picked up brewing again, and really don't have the space to do both where I live now.

Accessories:
Spare ceramic glass platen (bought from Little Bear Knives-Montana's Handmade Knives)
Jet 728100 universal benchtop machine table with four locking caster wheels installed.
36 Abrasive belts, some have been used, many are virgin.

Selling Terms: Face to face, CASH. Bring a vehicle that can hold the machine, either as it sits, or broken down into large(ish) sections. A friend to help wouldn't hurt either. Even though I managed to get it all on the table it's on by myself.

End of September price cut to $1600.
Reaching the point where I'll just keep it. I'm already taking a big hit on what it cost to build.
