Witnesses say many dead, injured in shooting at New Zealand mosque

“Officials say both the manifesto and video qualify as objectionable under a 1993 New Zealand law that gives the government discretion to ban certain materials for the public good. An objectionable classification in this particular case is considered to be a justifiable limit on freedom of expression under New Zealand's Bill of Rights.”
New Zealand bans terror suspect's racist manifesto; citizens told to 'destroy any copies'

One can be arrested, tried, convicted and jailed/fined for mere *possession* of the document or video. Any “Bill of Rights” that allows government to do this defines Rights is repulsive to a Free Society.

Technology and medicine are great sources of legal immigrants. First, the pool of people who make it through the process are at the pointy part of the intellectual pyramid. Secondly, there is virtually ZERO job openings in tech or medicine for immigrants who have not done it legally and can prove they have a legal right to work in the US. Doubly so for medical personnel who have to get US licenses. One of my primary docs is an Indian, and I have great faith in his skills and abilities.

Legal foreign med schools may squeeze US citizens out of med school and residency slots, but the larger pool simply raises the bar for the quality of US student who can eventually end up surging you.

‘Egg Boy’ teen defends egging anti-Muslim Australian senator - The Boston Globe

By Associated Press MARCH 25, 2019
CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — An Australian teen known around the world as ‘‘Egg Boy’’ has conceded that egging a far-right senator was not the right thing to do, but says the gesture united a world reeling from a white-supremacist’s alleged massacre of 50 Muslims in New Zealand.

Will Connolly gave his first television interview on Monday since becoming an online hero among many for cracking an egg on Sen. Fraser Anning’s head as the maverick legislator spoke at a news conference after a gunman killed or wounded 100 worshippers at two Christchurch mosques on March 15.

French Muslim Group Sues Facebook, YouTube Over NZ Attack Video
The CFCM, which represents several million Muslims in France, said it took Facebook 29 minutes after the beginning of the broadcast to take it down.

Major internet platforms have pledged to crack down on the sharing of violent images and other inappropriate content through automated systems and human monitoring, but critics say this is not working.

Internet platforms have cooperated to develop technology that filters child pornography, but have stopped short of joining forces on violent content.

A U.S. congressional panel last week called on top executives from Facebook and YouTube, as well as Microsoft and Twitter, to explain the online proliferation of the "horrific" New Zealand video.

The panel, the House Committee on Homeland Security, said it was "critically important" to filter the kind of violent images seen in the video.

Maybe they’re not suing Liveleak because Liveleak posts Muslim beheading videos.

Hagia Sophia can be reverted to a mosque: Erdoğan - Turkey News
It is within the bounds of possibility to change the legal status of the iconic Hagia SophiaMuseum, a landmark of Istanbul and a UNESCO World Heritage site, to a mosque as it was before 1935, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on March 24.

“It is not an abnormal proposal. It is not something impossible, it could be done easily. We could even name it as the Hagia Sophia Mosque instead of a museum so that everybody can visit it without charge,” Erdoğan said during a live interview on a private broadcaster when asked whether the museum could be free of charge for Turkish citizens.

Erdoğan has also applauded the humane stance of the people of New Zealand following last week’s twin mosque attacks in Christchurch city during his speech.

“The people of New Zealand gave a lesson of humanity to those who did not get their share of humanity,” Erdoğan said.

During the interview, Erdoğan praised the mass gatherings at the scene of attacks and people’s act of respect to the victims.

Erdoğan went on to say that the people of New Zealand could never be linked to terrorism.

“They organized memorial services, they gathered at the scene of the incident and left flowers to pay tribute to the victims. These are acts of humanity. We can’t ignore these acts of humanity,” he added.

The Turkish leader expressed his “heartfelt” thanks to the people of New Zealand once again for their strong stance against terrorism and solidarity with the victims.

He reiterated that attacks in Christchurch “was not an individual act of terrorism but an organized act of terrorism.”
