Problem with NZ is that a bunch of of Tony Blair's proteges, including the current PM there, carpetbagged their way into leadership positions and implemented the same electorate shaping through demographic engineering policies as Labour in the UK. They've been importing Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Indonesians by the boatload with promises of welfare as long as they vote the right way.
so much for freedom of speech, it sounds like Western "democracies" have an ability to go from Democracy to Tyrany in less than 24 hours.

Yes, a *permit* would be impossible to get but not the weapons. The black market will see to that.
So the next mass killer will pay more to acquire weapons that are banned without a permit, incurring additional fines and penalties above and beyond multiple murder charges? Or maybe just use their years of planning to train reloading or sniping with a bolt-action?
Do they think that without the availability of legally obtainable semiautomatic weapons with removable magazines, the violent psychopaths will go into remission and become productive members of society?
Better chance those faint hopes than allow people means of self-defense?

Looks like they just banned the majority of Semis their with the swoop of a pen. You can’t own them without a special permit and when asked about that permit the response was don’t bother applying. Let’s see how that works out in New Z...

I hope they resist to the point the govt needs to backtrack.

The utter contempt the Civil Service and would be aristocratic political class has for ordinary citizens isn't going to end well with them consistently engineering ways to nullify the power of voting and the equal protection under law.

I also do not recall CNN coverage of Germany returning refugees back to Taliban because we have all decided that Taliban is good for us!
Germany deports more Afghan asylum seekers
Germany has deported another group of Afghan asylum seekers back to Kabul. 21 men arrived in the capital on Wednesday morning, bringing the number returned to the country over the past three years to more than 530. Critics say Afghanistan is still too dangerous for the rejected asylum seekers.
The plane from Leipzig landed just after seven a.m. local time. It was the 22nd such group deportation of Afghans since December 2016. The previous flights have brought back a total of 512 Afghan men.
Murtaza Rasouli, the head of legal support for Afghan returnees in the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, confirmed to InfoMigrants that the 21 men had arrived safely and some were being accommodated in guest houses. He said they would be returned to their families within the next two days.
Returns controversial
The German government signed a deal with Kabul in 2016 to repatriate Afghans who had failed to obtain asylum. It began deportation flights in December 2016. Rasouli said under the agreement, Germany was acting within its rights to carry out the latest deportation.
The deportations have been very controversial. In July last year, one of a group of 69 men committed suicide after arriving back in the country. The 23-year-old had lived in Germany for eight years before being sent back to Kabul.
A new report by the Danish Refugee Council has found that migrants who are forcibly returned to Afghanistan have problems reintegrating because of depression, anxiety, isolation and stress.

Nowadays it takes almost 50 years to get the truth about anything. So, we are living what somebody else is programming for us and most of us do not care anymore.
