You’ll be able to sleep? Politics don’t interest me at all and I don’t think I’d be able to sleep.
We'll either wake up on Wednesday morning in America or we'll wake up at the start of something else.....

It's not overstatement to say this election has drastic historical significance. The most powerful and exceptional nation today and in all of history is electing an individual to hold the authority of 1/3 the government. But the nation is also deciding whether it will continue elevating the individual or shift gears and elevate the state, setting the trajectory for at least a few more years of continued democracy or an irreversible cascade into socialism/communism which will only end when it destroys what we spent 250 years building, just as it has every other nation that tried it in the past century. Either way, people will be talking about this night and its consequences for over a thousand years. I'll be forgotten within a few generations but the last memories of me will be framed in the context of having lived during the events of this week.

Not a chance I could sleep.

I'm wicked short and skinny so I usually just pocket carry a .380. I'm going to start keeping a Ruger PC9 and SR9 (same magazines) in a bag in the trunk. It'll be in a rifle bag for now but I just ordered the Savior Specialist Covert 30" bag so it won't be as obvious to the neighbors. It has backpack straps so it'll be perfect for the PC9 get-home/trunk gun/go bag I've been meaning to build. It's the reason I bought the gun. The bag will also fit an AR if it's taken down so I'll have that option too.

My rape whistle doesn’t leave my side. I usually carry two of them in case one malfunctions and doesn’t blow correctly.

Insanity. Nobody NEEDS more than one rape whistle. And it should be limited to 10 blows before you can reset it to whistle again.

Lol, you should hear some of the gun shop conversations. The little shops, not Bud's or Smoky Mountain.

LOL I can imagine. No fans of Feds there.

A good friend who grew up in Cocke County gave me some sage advice for travel there. As you know I don't look that different from the DEA brother-in-law on Breaking Bad and my work car was a Crown Vic. Bad combo. The advice was when at local establishments to let folks know that I wasn't a Fed and casually mention what work I was doing and who I was visiting so that I had a verifiable and friendly reason to be in the area. OK to name drop of connections to folks with family in the area. Also don't ask about anything to raise suspicion. I could see a definite shift in the dynamic once people got to know me.

Lol, I just got a new tat on my left forearm. Even without that my gut, beard, long hair and earring don't exactly scream Fed. Add in the generally pro 2a/anti-liberal t-shirts and my Yankee accent is generally overlooked fairly quickly. And when asked "Werrr you frum?" I generally respond that "I'm a political refugee..... From the commie nation of Massachusetts..." Generally gets at least a smile, usually a healthy chuckle:)

LOL, that's pretty much how I figured you would fit in around there. [thumbsup]

My guess is Trump will keep the White House, but Dems will re-take both the House and the Senate.

Or, what I call a political "Mexican Standoff"...

This....but...I don't carry a small aresenal "when I expect to encounter a threat" (etc)... I carry a small arsenal ALWAYS, literally anywhere and everywhere I go. ..To me, it seems rather useless/futile/crazy/whatever to only carry when I "think I might need it"...etc . I mean, look, if history has shown me (us) and taught me (us, everyone) anything? It's that you simply never, ever EVER know when some lunatic/wingnut might randomly and suddenly attack you and/or your family, literally anywhere, anytime.....I carry if I'm simply walking or driving a couple of blocks in my own (very safe, very quiet and peaceful) neighborhood. And no, I'm not 'paranoid' nor cynical/afraid/etc etc...I simply don't wanna be, for example, out at a nice, quiet, peaceful breakfast or lunch or whatever at a "quiet" place and have some wingnut/whackjob/pissed off soul/lunatic ex-employee/angry husband thirty seconds removed from a bad fight with his wife/helpless victim (etc etc etc).
If you've never heard the story about Luby's in Texas, you should Google it, and that's only ONE incident in a long, long LONG list of random mass "executions". Then spend an hour or so searching out other mass shootings (the one in "quiet" Wakefield MA years back where some emplyoee who was a "strange loner/odd type guy" etc just went nuts one weekday morning and executed several....or the one at Bard College (etc etc etc).....Doesn't have to be a "mass shooting" either. Just one random asswipe or one angry f*ck or whatever, looking to declare it "Judgment Day" and start killing/shooting/stabbing/etc anyone and everyone unlucky enough to be nearby. Or simply just a random robbery or mugging or whatever where a victim just gives up the cash/wallet?etc and the attacker randomly DECIDES TO SHOOT OR STAB HIM/HER ANYWAYS... I carry literaly effin' everywhere. Even in church on Sunday. "The Lord (and Gaston Glock) Be With You..." (but lately, that awesome "tiny" little Sig P365 is in my pocket even if I'm walking witht eh wife and kids around the block for just a little exercise. I simply refuse to be a "tragic victim of a random...." etc)

Oh, and my wife and kids carry also, so if it's indeed "Judgment Day", then the wingnut really, really misjudged his random target(s). ;)

Just sayin'
Sorry to thread jack, but I think the shooter in Wakefield was my cousin. If I have the right incident, he didn't go batshit suddenly... He had an affair with one victim's wife. She ended it and he thought he could get her back by eliminating her husband. He didn't anticipate the second victim being there when he went to kill the first guy.

That’s a great way of putting it. I carry a Snub .357 around town and in the areas I frequent just because I think it’s a good idea.

if I go somewhere a little more “urban” I up it to a G-19 with a spare mag. Anything shady I just avoid outright.

Either my grandfather or father basically said the same words. Stuck with me ever since.
