After seeing a few nice Remington O3A3's lately, I realized that I never took the time to properly document mine.

Just wish the pics would come out the same way it looks in hand. Photos just don't do it any justice. Still cosmoline soaked inside, and otherwise, one of my cleanest examples in the collection.

Enjoy, and thanks for looking.

Very nice; 9/43 same as mine. Still some cosmo. Stock looks a little dry. OG inspection? Gonna clean it or leave it?

Wonder what the SS is.

Pristine stamps. Well done.

My daughter has has this SC listed locally for me. I never got interested in ti but the old guy I got it from said he bought it at a DMC match at Perry. Just not my cup of tea.

Martin's is the 'true original' complete with cosmoline. Mine was inspected at Ogden Arsenal, but left alone and not rearsenaled (open OG stamp). Otherwise it's in original WWII trim with 1944 PKW sling, "R" sight hood, and plastic oiler in butt stock. I have also put a couple of coats of cut BLO on the stock as it was dry. I've also replaced the butt plate with a NOS "R" one as the original had minimal finish on it; this rifle spent most of its time in a barracks rack somewhere.

At the tail end of production, many left over parts were used. My barrel date is three to four months prior to the receiver number, IIRC.

So it's not unusual to see the boxed and unboxed FJA.

Op what's with the title of this thread? She looks amazing!

Maybe Martin means the lighting was bright and hurt the contrast? Definitely not his photo ability I took my pics when the sun was not as bright in the back yard; the dark walnut stock really shows well on mine.

So that means my receiver at 70,552 earlier in production is a closer match to the barrel date of 9/43?

It just looks better in hand!

Don't quite recall when the Govt stopped orders, but many late receivers are built with early barrels/stocks/etc. I'm not sure that most collectors would be too overly concerned how close a barrel date matches a receiver, after the contract was suspended.

Recoil is a slight bit heavier than a Mauser, but mush less than the Garand; the gas operated M1 system absorbs a fair amount of energy. The Garand is heavier as well.
