Hey Guys/Gals,

I have my shirt and tie and slacks ready for my 5pm meeting. Wish me luck (Please), I hope I don't need my knee pads (LenS). I will update what happens to me (if by any chance you don't see an update from me by 7pm, someone please send me some bail money because they must have lock me up [smile]).

I'm sure that you'll do fine.

Personally I wouldn't do the jacket and tie, but that's because I absolutely hate wearing them and only do it when absolutely, positively necessary. I've never been convinced that it is necessary or appreciated by a chief or licensing officer (as long as the applicant is dressed neatly and non-controversially - leave the "legalize marijuana" T-shirt at home).

Best of luck, Fee! Just be cool, and before you know it, you'll be getting your LTC.

In addition to the "legalize marijuana" shirt that Len mentioned, I'd also leave home the "If you run, you'll only die tired" shirt. [wink]

According to the research I did a couple years ago, Beverly is a green town, meaning you will be issued a Class A-ALP licennse if you met the requirements of the application and passed the background check. Good luck. Be honest and polite, but firm in your views. Fom living near there some years ago, and spending a lot of time there, I can tell you it has a good PD.

Actually I know a guy who managed to get an ALP in Cambridge on his first try. He wore a suit, so, I wouldn't dismiss the power of looking respectable. Look at it as if it were a job interview.
Good luck, you'll be fine. [wink]

Good luck FeeBear. My first time applying got my knees shaking and my brow sweating, but it turned out to be no big thing. The cops are people too. Act confident and assured, and let us know what they said!

First off, I met Lt. Terry of the Beverly PD. I can't explain how much I enjoyed my time with him. He was what I remember police were like when I was a kid. [grin] He almost had me laughing to tears, he kept poking fun of himself (eyesight) and I would make fun of myself (hair or lack of) [rofl]. We had to fill out an online form so me bringing a copy wasn't necessary. He was teasing me about taking my Safety Class in Harvard, since I could have done it Danvers. I told him that MIT guys are known for their Science not common sense. The only stressful part was the fingerprinting, he kept tell me to loosen up and I tried my best but I just don't bend that well (Large Framed Guy) and he had me going in different position (No LenS, no Knee pads). I also have very large hands so I might be doing it again. [thinking]

He told me that I should receive my LTC-A ALP in 2 months or so. I kinda feel very silly/stupid getting all nervous about this in 2 months or so I will be able to confirm the Green Status for Beverly.

Good to hear. Myself I'm nervous because I'm up for renewal in another year and a half and I'm hoping to keep my Class A LTC but w/out the Reason For Issuing: For Business Purposes Only title and an ALP title in its place instead. I'm just lucky I can use the I'm on call tonight, or I just came back from the shop excuses.
I'm in New Bedford and we have it tough here.

On a side note, LT Terry said that the "new" license was for six years and alot smaller. I thought the license was for four years?

Nope the change to 6 years was a GOAL victory along with the reduction in LTC size.
