Winter Crate Project

I feel ok. All the work was done inside; 4 days of rain that week. You can see the garage, unheated, but full with the 1967 Mustang and the 1955 Pontiac. Stripping, cleaning, and painting done in the basement. I had a box fan in the basement door to move the air. Fabrication of the dividers was done in the living room on the coffee table. Like I said I am really limited as to space.

I’m probably going to have to keep the crate in the garage, dolly it over to the house for the rifles, and then back to the hitch tray on the car.

Broke out the stencils and labeled the crate. The big blank is for a large eagle stencil that a unit member has. Can't believe I spelled "Obendorf" wrong. Hard to make corrections.

Personally I would be using a couple more substantial straps to hold the crate on, loose those silly rubber band bungees.

So my search continues for the plans for the 10 rifle 1903/A3/M1 crate.
Sent a email off to SA and if I fund the tine looks like I could go out there and do some reaearch

Hello,

Thanks for writing.

While I haven't seen drawings or specs, we do have a few empty crates here, along with archival photos of the crates being made and packed here at the Armory. If you'd like to book a research appointment, we can certainly arrange that, though we are getting set to close for some construction.

After all that work, it seems that it will be too incorrect to take into the field. I can still use it as secure storage, but we'll hide it in the '40 Ford truck.[frown]

can anyone come up with the correct plans ?
I would need to find the time to set up appointment to go to SA Museum to go through records and take measurements for the 1903/M1 crates . Not sure when I would be able to do that but glad to hear its a option.

Found some bits of info here and there. Page 72 of attached pdf is drawing you are looking for... I think. Good luck

Think that will help a Lot! Now to find the inserts for M1.
I have the plans for a single enfield rifle also

Anybody have the printing skills to print these out so I can read them ? My printer prints to fit on 8x11 but it comes out very small?

For the life of me I cant find a way to print the plans above so I can actually read the measurments

I tried to enlarge it and then print it off in sections but it distorted the print even worse. Unsure if there is a software that can sharpen the image

This is visible at moderate magnification.

Better as a Word Doc. I can email.
