Hey folks. I have a nice little model 61 takedown chambered for .22 short, .22 long and .22LR. Beautiful little firearm that you can still see the file marks from the guy who finalized the fit and finish. It has a 11 grove fore end. I'm just trying to figure out the year of manufacture. The serial numbers on both pieces are the same. The serial number is a bit odd. The 1658G SN doesn't seem to come up no matter what source I try.
Can anybody hook a brother up??
Thanks a lot.

Winchester typically didn't use both letters and numbers in serial numbers. The serial numbers were typically 1-infinite number blocks based on production numbers. Can you post some pictures of the serial number? If possible, color the serial number in with white chalk - the serial number will be clearer to see and the chalk comes out once you wipe the gun down with an oiled rag.
