Winchester Model 1917, fills a collection slot

Slowly building on a US long arm 30-06 collection that I never intended to start. But now, after four 1903's and two 1903-A3's, it's way too late. I'm doomed.

So, when this Winchester Model of 1917 crossed my path, it landed in the collection. Stock is a replacement, of course, with no cartouches. Barreled action appears to be original finish.

If I ran across a Winny, I'd snap it up too. The M1917 is a very underrated rifle.

I have an Eddystone and it's one of my favorites. It came with a chopped stock and I found a brand new, in the wrapper, unfinished GI stock for it. It's one of the prizes of my collection.

Nice looking pieces, both of you. I'm eyeballing an old Arisaka, myself. Think it will be a nice start to my C&R collection, and I can get it for around $125.

ETA: Not that an Arisaka has a damned bit to do with a 1917 or 1903... just grasping for some tenuous thread of similarity between mine and those sexy beasts.
