ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Police say an employee of an Attleboro gas station was shot overnight during an apparent attempted robbery by a man wearing a monkey mask.
Lt. Brian Kelley said it happened around 2:30 a.m. at the Mobil Mart on Newport Avenue. The clerk, who was the only person working at the time, was taking out the trash when he was approached by the suspect from behind.
Kelley said there was a struggle, and the victim was shot once in the abdomen. He was able to flag down police Sgt. Jessica Maskell, who was patrolling at the shopping center across the street and heard gunshots.
