"It's a sign that the lack of gun laws in the U.S. is allowing guns to flood across the border that are literally being used to kill people in the streets of Toronto," Miller said.

Miller said Toronto, a city of nearly three million, is still very safe compared to most American cities, but the illegal flow of weapons from the United States is causing the noticeable rise in gun violence.

"The U.S. is exporting its problem of violence to the streets of Toronto," he said.

This guy should run for the Mayor of Boston. [roll]

Lack of Gun laws is leading to murders? WHAT ABOUT THE LAW AGAINST MURDER???????

How can these people be so ignorant?

"Why do socialists always blame someone else?"

Does anyone expect them to blame themselves when there is a convenient scapegoat like firearms handy?
That's asking them to tell the truth. Fat chance.

Always remember the Socialist's primary goal, and you'll easily get it. Ignore their arguments, because if they were to say the truth, they'd be out of politics, and they know it.

The truth:

"We want to get rid of everyone's means of fighting against our domination of all facets of your lives. We will dictate to you what you will and won't do, and you will give us all your money to help those too lazy to help themselves."

A Socialist and a Liberal are just Communists with a different name.

but at least one person up there has his head screwed on straight.

John Thompson, a security analyst with the Toronto-based Mackenzie Institute, says the number of guns smuggled from the United States is a problem, but that Canada has a gang problem -- not a gun problem -- and that Canada should stop pointing the finger at the United States.

"It's a cop out. It's an easy way of looking at one symptom rather than addressing a whole disease," Thompson said."

And that happened to be the smallest part of the article too.

"Why do socialists always blame someone else?"

It's a common tactic among those who do not have an agenda which they can argue intelligently for. Instead, they mask their short-comings by demonizing and blaming someone or something else.

I ran across an interesting comment about this in a novel by David Weber, current dean of military sci-fi writers. The head of the Terran Federation Navy was trying to explain the idiot behavior of liberal human politicians to an alien ally:

"Lord Talphon" she greeted him formally. "I hope you're enjoying yourself." Uncontrollably, a chuckle bubbled up. Ktharra raised one tufted ear, signifying inquiry. "Oh, I was just recalling the response a great playwright of ours, George Bernard Shaw, made to precisely that question under similar circumstances: 'That, Madam, is the ONLY thing I am enjoying.'"

"Ah yes," Ktharra broke in on her thoughts. "I remember Zhaaaw. A classic example of the way literary brilliance can coexist with political imbecility." He gave a teeth-hidden carnivore's grin. "And speaking of the later, how do you manage to put up with her sort?" He indicated Wister. "Or perhaps the question I am really asking is WHY you put up with them."

"Well, Lord Talphon, some humans tend to believe that the further removed a political philosophy is from reality, the more morally pure it must be."

"Why?" Ktharra's perplexity was manifest. "I know you better, Sky Marshall" - the title he really used was 'First Fang' - "than to think you yourself believe anything of the kind."

"You're quite right. But I'm trying to explain the biases of the civilization which initially gave form to the Federation. That civilization's dominant religion - which I myself don't subscribe to, by the way - was heavily influenced in it's formative years by a philosophy called Gnosticism, which held that the world as reported by the senses was inherently corrupt and deceptive. Given that assumption, the only reliable source of knowledge was correct doctrine, and the attitude lingers on in secularized form. Demonstrated unworkability in the real world merely proves a belief system's 'higher truth' in the eyes of it's true believers."

Ktharra's ears twitched in the slow movement that conveyed incredulity as he listened to her explanation. "I shall never understand your species, First Fang", he sighed.

I always thought that the character of Bettina Wister was a parody, and not a real person... but reading some of Mumbles Menino's blather lately has me rethinking that.

Weber is a excellent author; he just needs to get another editor. One with large enough balls to say to him "Dave, edit out about half the talking and you'll have good books again!" He's suffering from his own success, and his novels are getting just TOO large.

also the Socialist-type polititions blame everybody else because thier constituants are TOTALLY WILLING to shoulder said blame.

I mean come on, they think it's the job of the welthy to sacrifice themselves to boost up the poor. Rather than simply helping the poor to better themselves on thier own accord.

"Give a Man a fish and he eats for the day, show a man how to fish he'll eat for life."

it wasn't "Don't worry, bro, that fisherman will feed you....no no, don't get up!"

There will always be a class known as "The Poor" but if we let the socalists take over it will be ALL of us....yet they'll still have a nice new expensive suit.

What else is there a demand for in Canada??? If the gangs are so prevelant then guns are what they want!!

If the US makes a special effort to stem the flow of illegal guns to Canada do you think they'll take some of our illegal aliens from south of the border?? Can't you just see rival gang members beating each other over the head with illegals!!
