How can they legally limit purchase of this one product only, does anyone know the legality of a retailer establishing this type of restriction. I know this was done in the past with the release of a new iPhone..

**I know All the reasons we should be boycotting dicks but when no one else has ammo, or ammo at a reasonable price...?

Because a**h***s go in and buy the whole pallet and flip it to make profit.

You want more than 3 or 4 boxes. Hit the classifieds section.

I would rather be able to buy 3 boxes than nothing.

I think they are trying to be fair, and spread the wealth around. Dick's can do whatever they want to. At least they actually have .223 in stock on a weekly basis at a fair price. And, if you hit a store when they open, sometimes they don't care. I went to Northboro a few weeks ago, and the guy gave me like 20 boxes of .223 with no issues at all.

Like Rick1987 said, they are trying to prevent the a**h***s from going in and buying a whole pallet, and than selling it on here for a 450% mark up.

Not sure if serious.....

Allow me to fix your question: "is it okay for a seller to sell me whatever legal product they want?" Yes. Walmart does this because they're trying to please everybody with what little they have. Sucks, but there you have it.

Get a job there and become pretty good friends with the sporting goods manager, then he'll let you buy an entire case of Federal 100 packs as it comes off the truck AND you get 10% off. That's what I did.

freedom of enterprize. a business can sell their murchandise however they want as long as its not in discrimination of a certain person. Be glad you can buy 3 boxes otherwise some guy with a bank accound bigger than yours would have cleaned the shelf in one swoop.

Do what I do, find somebody else in the store with a LTC but not buying ammo and give em the $$$ to buy it for you.

Do what I do. Go inside and buy 3 boxes of ammo, walk outside, wait 20 minutes, and than go back in and buy 3 more. Repeat as much as you want.

There should be laws preventing retailers from setting their own policies about how much of an item that they can sell.

What could go wrong?

Wouldn't THAT be ironic in the current political climate! "It came to our attention that Walmart was rationing ammo sales to 3 boxes a day. This sort of bullsh*t is why I've made executive order #666 which tells that mean ol' Walmart CEO to go screw and the American PEOPLE WILL NOT BE LIMITED! SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, MOTHER****ERS!"

Logic'd

Look in the classifieds here. There are plenty of good deals to be had there. Especially on ammo. [rofl][rofl2]

I know, right. I want to shoot it not put it through college...

So YOU'RE the guy that scooped up all the hats, golf clubs and fishing reels!!!

No wonder I couldn't find any at Dicks, Bass Pro, etc. [angry]

If you're still looking for ammo, though, I might be willing to part with a box or two in trade for one of your hats (Woodland camo, size medium).

The "legality" of it is that they're a private business and they can establish the rules of sale in any fashion they choose. No worse than the Black Friday or "Only one item" restrictions on sales items.

I posted a wtb thread for 500 rounds of 9mm and within minutes I got a response and picked it up this morning. AAAAAAAnd it was pre-retard pricing.

Yes I was one of the guys there when delivery truck showed up but not to resell at ridiculous prices (ie classifieds). I have a customer who has cash in hand, wants to buy my product but I'm not going to sell it to you... Competitive profit v. Restriction

Freedom of enterprise n.-The freedom of private businesses to operate competitively for profit with minimal government regulation.

Because capitalism and free market economy.

It's funny how you bring up a topic for discussion and some get so Agro! I want to hear others opinions, a lot of angry people out there.

*In my opinion* NOT selling is the opposite of capitalism

I have continued to find ammo at normal prices if you take the time to talk to people (as others pointed out). And my supply is not lacking, thats not the topic. I like to go to the range its the only thing i spend money on and want the option of buying 10 boxes with out making more than 3 trips to the store.

You asked about the legality of not selling. That means you're asking about governmental regulation over selling. That's not capitalism.

Having a product to sell someone means they're more likely to buy other stuff in the store. Someone walks in for a specific item and it's not available, most people get (upset/disappointed/angry) and leave the store without spending any additional money. The limits ensure that more than one person walks in and 'is happy'.

Valid points including noxin but the sale of ammo IS regulated by state/government?

in MA (state) requiring FID/LTC

I don't see a problem, and definitely not an a**h***. Deal with it or move to some socialist paradise, since we live in MA, your like 3/4 there.

Well YMMV.

Since I am not wealthy enough to buy the whole pallet. I am perfectly fine with them having a 4 box limit at my LGS.

And since they still have 5.56 on the shelves @$12 a box. I can still shoot my AR.

When I get all the PMs on where this store is, im sure they are happy about the 4 box rule too.

I ask one more time... What's the thing you put under her nose?? Something dripping? And are there 3 other people behind her?
