Yup, two drunk families got into it it sounds like. Of course that's spun into "Evil blacks play knockout game with innocent white family". No kid was hit they say, so the family that got beat is outright lying to seem like victims when the story makes it sound like they're equally culpable, or maybe they even caused the issue.

It gets spun whichever way sells story.

100 whites help 100 blacks = no story
100 blacks help 100 whites = no story

1 stupid white family gets in altercation with 1 stupid black family = "hate crime" mega story to make $$$

Why do people who claim to not be a racist always point out they have X amount of black friends?

Well, that's not totally true. It's like the argument that if you date someone of a race you can't be racist.

You can have black friends, and still say racial slurs and believe stereotypes about them. It's quite common.
