So to finance a build I want to do I'm having to sell one of my S&W Revolvers. So I'm looking at one of my revolvers that I have two of and trying to figure out which one would be better to sell.

So I'm looking for some help. Out of these two revolvers which would you keep and which would you sell. Options are:

1. S&W 629-2e with an unfluted cylinder and a 3" barrel pre lock
2. S&W 629-6 Trail Boss with an unfluted cylinder and a 3" barrel with lock Edited to add: This is a limited edition Trail Boss. 1 of only 500 made in this configuration.

Both have very nice custom rosewood S&W combat grips.

So what do you think?

Not certain if I like the unfluted cylinders...

Who am I kidding, nice gun porn - Please retake the picture without the highlights saturated for our pleasure

What is this lock thing?

I know nothing about revolvers.

There is an internal action lock, operable with a generic "key". When locked, the gun is inoperable. The Ruger LC9 has one. The problem is that the gun is locked up when you need it most (if you use the thing), and I guess on occasion, they malfunction, locking up when they should be unlocked. I have read a few threads about lawsuits due to the malfunction over on S&W forums.

Keeping the pre-lock was my thought as well. But, the 629-6 is actually a limited edition Trail Boss and it's 1 of only 500 that were made in this configuration. Funny thing on this is I didn't even realize it until I bought it and did a little research. I don't think the shop selling it knew either as these have a higher selling point.

I personally like the bottom gun with the grips from the top gun. Since you are looking to free up some cash, is one worth significantly more than the other? I would sell the more expensive one since they are functionally the same.

The idea of selling them both is not terrible, I can't imagine a 3" 44mag is any fun to shoot.

Oh she's fun to shoot! It reminds me though that I need to get a pair of recoil absorbing gloves...... [wink]

Keep the one that you can hit better with.

Yes. For me this would be the one with the best trigger.

I honestly don't see these limited edition S&W revolvers being collectors items, so I wouldn't let that affect you choice. Keep the one that shoots the best.

Trigger jobs can significantly improve the trigger on a revolver.

Wasn't sure on this one. Once I found out it was 1 of 500 I thought it might have a greater value the longer I kept her. Sounds like that might not be the case.
