Hey Everyone,

I am interested in buying pepper spray for self defense for me (until I can buy a concealed carry firearm) and a couple family members and friends.

Where would I be able to buy Pepper Spray in the Boston area??

Consider buying yourself two or three. Leave one by your bed, another one on the opposite end of the house...maybe near the entrance door or kitchen, and the third one is for carry. Remember that your LTC may not be valid in surrounding states so you'll probably still end up carrying pepper spray on occasion. I have a MA LTC so I end up bringing pepper spray when I go to RI.

Will not. No other states honor the Mass LTC.

That is false Mister Happy. These states either do not require or honor a MA LTC... Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont

I carry spray every day at work because I have to go to ma/ri/ct/ny depending on the day.
Dont forget to pick up some water filled practice units to feel how it actually spays...

I think Boston Gun and Rifle Association has some. Off Dorchester ave on back side of The Blarney Stone (7 Faulkner St). I'd call first though. Otherwise Sportsmens Den, Coin Collector, Four Seasons, Zero Hour Arms (that's us), Dicks (There is a Dicks N. Shore at Square One mall I think).
Good Luck
Zero Hour Arms

Just pick up a second can if you want to practice with it and see how it sprays. If you're lucky, you'll get a little blowback and get some good training value from it.

If you spray someone, you ARE going to get exposed. Maybe just a tiny bit, maybe quite a lot when an assailant keeps coming at you and tackles your ass while you're waiting for the OC to kick in - if it does.

Either way, buy a second can to practice with, and you have an extra can laying around, even if it's not 100% full. (Relative anyways)

Oh, and a tip - straight stream. Fog and foam are not wonderful ideas.

Manchester Firing Line, army Navy store Salem NH, Harbor Freight Tools Salem NH- Four Seasons- Woburn. Good luck and stay safe!

For some reason you still need an ammunition sales license to sell pepper spray so the easy answer is ... buy it where you buy ammunition. Cant think of an ammo place (except maybe Walmart?) that doesn't carry it.

Every year my wife and oldest daughter get a new can in their Christmas stocking.

Watch the instructional video from the manufacturers website. Remember to check the expiration date.

Pepper spray has varying degrees of effectiveness from person to another. Miss the target and hit a frail old lady in the face and it will damn near kill her. Empty it into a shit faced 300lb ghetto goblin, who has been sprayed a few times in the past and he will just be really mad when he assaults you

Are there any restrictions as to the size or type of OC Spray that one can buy??

Thanks for the great info everyone!!!!

Since Massachusetts still considers it ammo, you can only pick it up someplace that has a license to sell ammunition. I've seen it at every LGS, Bass Pro, Cabelas

Do any of you guys get creative while carrying pepper spray? Or just toss a can in your pocket?

How does pepper spray react to heat? Can I leave a can in my trunk or car long term?

I may start adding some pepper spray to my getup.

No such restrictions but if you are going to carry it with you at all times, if it is too big you are likely to leave it at home.

Yes you can leave it in the car. Change out the can every two years and no worries

Will not. No other states honor the Mass LTC.
This is untrue.

There are several kinds of recognition:

1. Some states recognize other states permits without restriction as to resident of permit holder (for example, Indiana, Texas)
2. Some states honor permits issued to residends of the issuing state (for example, Colorado)
3. Some states honor permits from states which they have a reciprocity agreement
4. Some states honor permits from states which honor permits for their residents (ex, New Hampster)
5. Some states honor permits on a list of states which meet their requirements (ex, Nevada)

So to say that no other state honors a MA permit is simply false.
