Afternoon All,
Quick question. Wherre can I go within a reasonable distance (say one hour drive from the Newburyport area) to shoot long guns over 100 yards?
I am in NE Mass, the North Shore and I would love to shoot my long guns at a distance over 100,
so let me hear your recommendations? Not shooting anything fancy, have a 16" AR with a Credo 1-8.
Much Thanks in advance.

Harvard has 300 yard range but you need to qualify. And be a member of course

Mass Rifle in Woburn has a 100/200. Harvard has a 100 and a 200/300.

Like mentioned, you need to be a member of these. Not sure about qualifying for Mass Rifle.

Qualifying at Mass Rifle is very straight forward.

I believe they want you to be a member for a few months before you attempt.

If you are a highly experienced rifle shooter, they make exceptions.

I'm guessing that since you refer to greater than 100 yards as "at distance" you are new to this.
When I read the thread title, I was laughing to myself expecting to read a question asking about shooting 600+ yards in NE mass.

Reading has a 600 yard range by the way. Not too far from you.

I'm a member at both Harvard and Mass Rifle. One big downside to Harvard is that you can not shoot .22s beyond 100 yards. they are not allowed at the 200/300

Mass Rifle allows .22 LR on their 100/200.

Here's a shot of 3 of the girls for attention.

I think I heard it’s 1000 now but I might be thinking of somewhere else. I’ve never been to Harvard here they have great submachine, gun pits, and all kinds other stuff.
Harvard now maxes out at 300 yards.

If you are a machine gun guy, they have at least 3 ranges where you can use a MG.

The 100, the MG range, the Subgun range, and possibly the 65 yard range.

I knew they had machine gun areas. I’m trying to think of where has the thousand yard range there’s a few around that I’ve never been to one… I can’t shoot that far. Without a new rifle and training and that’s just a sport you’re not shooting that far anywhere else unless you’re shooting for like a building top to somewhere else.. at least the Massachusetts

That’s why that 1st Trump assassination was so weak.. I don’t condone the attempted assassination. I just can’t condone that bad of a shot even though he just nearly got it.

And the Back 40...

I think you're thinking of Granby

full auto is OK at a 100yds range? i did not think it was. it is fairly easy there to shoot over the berm if moron loses the grip, where will it fly then?
The handbook clarifies a little, and it is (in my understanding) further explained when one is qualified by the Class III Committee.

The same place it will go, if you go over the berm with any rifle caliber firearm at any range. Well outside of club grounds.

The range rules are your friend. The best advice I'll give a member of almost any club is to read the specific range rules for the range you are at before shooting.
Every club does this. Rules right up at the tables at that specific pit or range.

Some make no sense but it's important to comply. For example, no rimfire at the falling plate racks at Harvard. (not the back 40, the other ones off the side road).

a .22lr rimfire is a poor bastard orphan at harvard. :) it`s just the way it is. :)

Yup. Banned from most of the cowboy pits and also from the 200/300.

The ban from the pits makes some sense because people don't pick up their brass. But banning it from the 200/300 makes ZERO senes.

I got in trouble a few years ago for shooting my single action .22 at one of the cowboy pits, despite the fact that I was dumping the empties into my hand and then into a pocket, not on the ground. Ha.
