Being in our kind of hobby on a fixed retired/disability income has become a challenge. I have fallen back on the ancient and revered process of bartering. Since my heart attack, I have traded my S/W M66 for the 1912 M06 Colt Police Positive .38 Special, my 1941 Sauer 38H rig for the 1943 Underwood M1 Carbine, the Underwood carbine for a 1920 M03 Colt, and the Smith Corona 03A3 in a Remington stock for the 1982 Walther PPk/S. And the latest, two small gold coins for the next one. Figured a rifle is more fun than coins on a box.

Here's a hint...it's a very late one...made right here in Chicopee, MA, in the spring of 1944. Production stopped in the summer of 1944 at about 1.2 million units.

Savage Enfield No 4 Mk1*

Now you have to sell it to me when your ready to upgrade

Almost grabbed a Longranch awhile back cuz canadiens, eh?! in the family but hesitated too long.

i was teying to collect made in mass guns and made in mass enfield was on the list. Like you funds are low and im out of trade goods.
I do have a short stack of guns I have to put up for sale but they are not fast sellers

I was originally negotiating a trade for a 1942 22-block. Nice light wear, early features, even patina, fluted handguard, multiple British proofs, obviously saw service. However the guy had been waffling over a week on his trade interests...and the other guy decided quickly. Rifle looks like it never left the country. Should have it by the end of the week.

The Savage Enfield came today. All I can post are these "photo booth" pics off my MacBook. I lost my iPhone last Sunday and my temporary flip phone can take but not share photos. Very late Savage Enfield, Chicopee MA, spring of 1944. Rifle is late 89 series, or 898943+9999 = or 908942 of a total of about 1.2 million made. Matching bolt and receiver; most parts seem Savage, but some parts are unmarked. Magazine is not Savage...has an 8 in a circle. Very nice wood...has a stock repair on the top by the butt plate with 2 treenails. Butt plate is brass. Rear sight blade is "MK 3;" you can see it in the second picture. A couple drops of oil and a bore snake wipe, and the 2-groove barrel is pristine. Hope to get a new iPhone next week as well as a few accessories.

I've given up on collecting Mausers, and will let all of them go but 3. My collection is becoming the oddball and eccentric...collecting the interesting and historical curios and relics. When I have my new phone I will be listing the 1937 BSW and 1936 S/243 K98s.

I was concerned at first when the rifle would not chamber a round, but found that the bolt head was 1 revolution too far out. Moved it back and its fine now. Feeds 2 strippers fine, but the 10th round will not feed. Every MilSurp needs it's quirk.

Feed lips are touchy on the enfields. Took me some fine tuning to get mine to feed with out issues.

Watching King Kong 2005 on cable. When they set out to rescue the heroine, they break out the Arms. There are 10 Gew98s in an arms rack, and the captain's bunk is on top of a chest of 20 Tommy guns.
