What's your favorite underappreciated or forgotten firearm?

My CZ-82...love that little pistol but don't shoot it that much.

Many years ago, I had a Walther PP Super. Wish I'd never sold it. When I bought it, I didn't realize that ammo was almost non existent for it. It came with a box of 50 rounds of 9mm Ultra. I went to buy more and pretty much no one had ever heard of that round. Years after I sold it, I started reloading and really would've been fairly simple to make my own. It was the first pistol I ever bought and I was pretty naïve. C'est la vie

Some of the guns you just quoted aren't direct blowback. A G42 is waaaay softer shooting than a PPK and similar 380s. The PPK is annoyingly abusive for a 380.
Yeah those little pistols with the spring around the barrel are stupidly kicky. I'm so much of a wuss so I'm gonna throw a comp on my VP9 lol.

For me, it’s Ruger centerfire handguns in general. Everybody likes to take a dump on them, but every one I have owned has been boringly reliable, accurate, and inexpensive.

Special shout out to the LC9s/EC9. Been carrying one for years. Conceals easy, good trigger (way better than any factory Glock), good sights, and minute of bowling pin accurate at 25 yards. You can pick one up used for under 2 Benjamins.

I brought one of my Model 11's to shoot some trap and folks thought I had three heads.

The Dial-a-choke was awesome!

I use my old a5 all the time on trap and hit 23 to 25.

Were folks balking at the poly choke or the shotgun in general?

I have a couple of old a5s but they are the deluxe vent rib models no poly choke.

I have a Ruger Security-Six I bought because it was cheap and I wanted something I wouldn't be too upset if I blew it up. I had just starting handloading and didn't want to wreck anything "nice"

I shoot that Security-Six more than any of the guns I wanted to protect.

Ruger: Built like a tank. Handles like a tank.

I (and I'm sure many of you) am a big fan of channels like Forgotten Weapons. Sure, the AR and Glock platforms are great - time-tested and proven. But, there's something about the runner-ups, and those that didn't make the podium, that interest me. Maybe it's the 'tism, but I love the quirky engineering in the less-popular guns.

My entry:
Take the Beretta PX4 Storm: everyone who shoots it (myself included!) seems to, universally, praise it as a soft shooter - yet, it hasn't sold terribly well in the states. That gun sent me down a rabbit hole for other rotating-barrel firearms - the Grand Power P 40 L caught my eye: a rotating-barrel pistol out of Slovakia chambered in 10mm--which seems like a great use case for the rotating barrel's recoil-reducing technology. Grand Power is, apparently, quite popular in Europe on the competition scene for guns like the X-Calibur (5", 9mm, rotating barrel, optics ready).

While the Stribog PCC has done well in the states, I am surprised that their handguns haven't done as well as they seem to deserve: while the space is full, imports under the Canik brand have gained a respectable following - why not the Grand Power line?

So, anyway, I ask NES: what's your favorite "runner up", "forgotten weapon", or underappreciated firearm--past and present?

Side note, I hope the links don't come across as spammy - just trying to provide sources for people.
Love my PX4 always thought it looked like a speed boat. I wanted to get the special edition one someday. Love my x-calibur and Beretta 92 & 96
P40L is on my list along with the Arex alpha Gen 1.

Stribog is the UMP at home and I'm tempted to get it.

Arex delta gen 2 is a great Glock clone for an affordable price that is modular like the P320.

Glock 39

The much maligned Glock-39 with +2 extender in .45GAP. I've had it for 22 years and much prefer it over My G-26 in 9mm. Very easy to fire fast and on target. My other fav Glock is the G-35 sold that in a moment of,,,,IDK what I was thinking?

DA/SA FNs seem to be underappreciated and few people own them anymore. FNH didn't have the marketing power Glock and M&P line did. I still carry my FNX-9 from time to time and always wanted a DA/SA pistol similar in shape to a Glock 19. Not as refined as my HK P30S but I appreciate it just the same. Something to be said about a company that understands the left handed market.

The old fns has been on my list to get
Weren't the fnx's plagued by frame cracking issues at the grip though? Due to the thinness of the polymer?

You mean the squishy FNX-45 YouTube video? Might have been a one off thing. I've never left mine in a hot car under the Texas sun though so I wouldn't know. Maybe mine's squishy too under those conditions.
