From researching a number of sites most everyone is indicating that Hornady's Match ammo is top tier. It also comes with a top tier price. Just wondering if anyone has a different brand that they use, which compares in accuracy? I know it can depend on how a particular rifle reacts, so I want to try a few different brands to see what my "new to me" Savage Stealth likes. Once I save up some brass I'll start to reload, but for now I'm looking solely at factory ammo.

Thanks

I've tried Prime Ammunition in 6.5 CM. Shoots pretty consistently, but lower velocity than Hornady 140gr ELD Match, even though 130gr. I hear the brass is very good, though I haven't reloaded any yet. I had signs of overpressure from Hornady 140gr ELD Match, which is why I moved to the Prime Ammo.

Hornady 140 ELD is what I use most. The Winchester Match 140 was not as good in mine but it was not bad and usually is a little less. I've heard good things about the Prime ammo but last I checked they don't ship to Ma. I've heard that some people have had good luck with the Hornady whitetail ammo which is quite a bit less. Federal Gold Medal match using Sierra match kings 140 grain shot the best in my gun, Sig Sauer match 140 was a close second. Both were way more accurate than the Hornady. I shoot a Tikka CTR 24” SS barrel.
I reload using SMK 142 bullets.

My Savage 12lrp seems to like the Hornady 147 ELD.

Bottom left is with a area 419 brake, mid llef is with a suppressor.
Top right is with a wipe in the suppressor, same ammo. Circled shot was punching thru a fresh wipe, balance of shots grouped right back where they were expected.

Right mid and bottom is a couple other ammo types: prime 130gr and Hornady 140 American Gunner.

I briefly had a 6.5 CM (Savage). The Winchester "Deer Season" did rather well in it. Depending where you find it, IIRC, it was running around $20 at Walmart, and they had at the time (and again now) a $5 per box rebate (limit 2).

Yeah online it seems like $20 is the going price for that brand. I wonder how well the Sellier & Bellot 140 gr FMJBT ammo shoots? That can be had for $12 a box which seems like a killer deal for 6.5CM?

I don't own a 6.5 and have no experience with that caliber. Just thought I'd mention some cheaper options.
