Whats your favorite antique or old gun in your collection?

My WWII M1's in my avatar. Not only are they American classics but they belonged to my Korean War vet dad before he passed.

The only 'antique' gun I have is an 1898 Krag. So I guess it's my favorite [thinking] It was stored in cosmoline and is in excellent condition.

Out of all my guns my favorite is my grandpas TC 56 smoothbore. I don't have a pic now but it looks just like the rest. When the weather is better ill be takin it to the range and if all goes well I want to get my first deer with a muzzleloader using it

I have a "few" older guns, but these are definite favorites in the antique category:

Mauser 71/84 - excellent condition:

Krag:

Martini-Henry:

Me firing my Snider conversion:

I assume you reload for the Martini Henry and the Snider. What does it work out to, price wise per round? How hard is it to get brass?

Well I bought my brother a Springfield that was built in 1863 and it has a trapdoor conversion dated 1869. I don't know that much about it. I also don't have a picture of it.

Springfield Trapdoor

1892 Trapdoor:

I would say the two Lugers (one was the long barrel model) my grand dad brought home from WW2, but my uncles who had them went full retard some years back and gave them both to a man who is now dead and nobody knows what happened to his collection... [banghead]

I have a few I like. Here are a couple.

A 1918 1911 along with a 1942 Winchester M1.

And a Mossber 35B Target rifle made between 1938 and 1940. Shoots like a dream at 100 yards and I can even hit prairie dog targets at 200 yards regularly.

A few of my favorites

Dutch Beaumont Vitali

Remington Model 81 .35 Rem.

Remington Model 8 .32 Rem.

Nepalese Snider

Martini Henry MK II 1878

Martini Henry MK IV 1887

Isaac Hollis Martini (South Africa)

Webley "WG" 1880's

Webley Pryse 1870's

Steyr Hahn 1912

Snider Enfield 1867

My favorite would probably be my 1901 Colt New Army & Navy in .38LC (yes, it locks up properly and I still shoot it - see the sooty cylinder)...

...closely followed by my 1899 Krag Carbine that also gets shot (Spanish-American/Philippine War is IMO a very fascinating period, hence the pair)...

...plus my 1916 Bavarian contract Steyr-Hahn M1912 (I shoot all my milsurps)...

...this Steyr-Mannlicher M1905 Argentinian military contract chambered in 7.63mannlicher is on it's way to me soon and I have a feeling will become my new favorite. Already geared up to start reloading and shooting it as soon as it arrives too.

I have a "few" older guns,

Almost every gun you've ever started a thread about in the milsurp subforum is on my wish list, but especially that Roth Steyr. Never sell that without contacting me first [smile]

1917-built Mauser C96 "Broomhandle" that my grandfather liberated from a German officer.

though this late-40's Chilean-made Colt Vest Pocket that the Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean military presented to my great-grandfather is a close second!

I'm going to have to say my 1920's (I think) Winchester Model 12, which was my grandfather's.

My Winchester model 12 that I think is from 1941 that I got from my grandpa that he got from my grandmas step dad

I have two of my great-grandfather's Model 12s from the early 40's. Great guns and great memories!

Post them up 30. Nice stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Sterg! Here's my "hand-me-down-shotguns" family picture. From top to bottom...

Winchester Model 12, 12ga with great-grandfather's name engraved on action, built 1942
Winchester Model 12, 16ga (s/n is close to the 12ga, so I believe they were purchased about the same time)
Winchester Model 1897, 12ga. Needs repair, provenance and build date unk.
Lefever Long Range Field & Trap Gun, 16ga. Built 1927, this was my great-grandmother's
Harrington & Richardson Arms, 12ga. Patents stamped 1900 and 1901. Build year unknown, probably also one of my great-grandmother's

you guys have some seriously cool stuff. my oldest stuff is an early '80s H&R topper with beautiful bluing, my M44, and my jungle carbine. shot some leftover silouhette targets at 50 yards with the enfield on saturday and while not excellent, i got all solid center mass hits and then a headshot for fun.
