Whats your Every Day Carry? What do you have with you at all times or in a vehicle at all times that has gear you deem neccissary for an event that happens without warning?

Mine is somewhat extensive but practical for all 4 seasons here in New England:
-On my belt at all times is my S&W 44Mag multi tool
In my trunk I keep a large bag with the following:
  • 70% Wool blanket
  • 5 15 minute road flares
  • Vehicle fuse replacement kit
  • Large Maglite (the 2 D cell one) + 4 extra batteries
  • Mayday hand crank LED flashlight
  • LED headlamp
  • fleece hat
  • waterproof work gloves
  • Mechanix gloves
  • 1 pair of socks
  • 50' of 550 Paracord
  • snow scraper
  • 3qts of engine oil
  • 1 qt of each engine fluid (brake, power steering, auto trans)
  • 60' of duct tape
  • 20' reflective tape
  • 25' electrical tape
  • fixed blade knife
  • fire extinguisher
  • first responder kit full of medical supplies
  • reflective road triangle
  • jumper cables
  • fire resistant coat
  • waterproof reflective jacket
  • 1 gallon of spring water
  • 2 packs of SOS rations
  • instant coffee
  • 25 12ga shells 00buck
  • Pro-Ki
  • 20 large zip-ties
  • 20 small zip-ties
  • a 12'X10' tarp
  • 100' of twine
  • 10 AA batteries
  • crankable/solar portable power supply. (charge phones etc)
  • fuel siphon pump
  • tire air pump
  • UST fire striker
  • Quik Tinder
  • BBQ lighter fluid
  • 1 box of matches
  • bug spray
  • sun screen
  • chapstick
  • wet wipes
  • $50.00 cash
  • I know I am forgetting somethings.

I keep a courier style bag as well that I use if I need to leave my vehicle and I put some items in it to take with me, but leave alot behind.

Whats in your you EDC, vehicle or Get Home Bag?

I would lose the BBQ lighter fluid and replace with this:
[h=1]Esbit 11.5g (0.4 Ounce)
Ultralight Folding Titanium Stove for Use with Solid Fuel Tablets[/h]Get some Mountain House pouches and A metal water bottle to boil water for food and coffee, the stove above works great and is tiny.

The best investment I made for my car setup was to get a JNC battery jumpack, you want the 660 version--saved me more than once.

Also get a Spetnaz shovel to throw in there.

Here is my gear list for my vehicle(s)

I knew I forgot to list some things! I do have a 1 liter SS bottle in my BOB and then another in my vehicle kit. I do also have 2 boxes of 3 military Trioxane fuel tabs and a colligans folding stove in my vehicle bag. In my BOB I have a few Wetfire packs.

I don't have a jumpack, I will need to get one. I've been bidding on a portable solar panel kit on eBay. Big enough to run my CB radio off of.

Is a Spetnaz shovel the same as a GI entrenching shovel?

-Dave

Sort of, it is the Russian Special Forces shovel, used as an axe, shovel, paddle, throwing weapon, close quarter combat weapon, cooking pan, hammer, and who knows what else.

A good $20 investment that comes with a nice edge all the way around the shovel.

Is you have the Dremmel edge sharpening tool or a stone you can get it very sharp.

You would be amazed at how much shit you can cram into your spare wheel well.

Also, my car has a secret storage compartment, like the bat mobile.

I have a boatload of kids so I have a good deal of items that revolve around them. Children's Tylenol and Motrin for fevers x2. Diapers (also make decent large bandages in a pinch despite the packing)/formula (when I have little ones like I do now) and a larger cash of food than normal (10 MREs, 12 Mountain meals, ramen). I also have a 250 pc medical kit and a smaller 150 kit that comes with me when we leave on walks and the like. Blankets, maps of MA, NH and VT, emergency water that I rotate, cleaning supplies (soap and the like), and some cash. If I go on a longer trip, I take gold and silver with me. Other than that, the load is fairly consistent with what others have posted. All this said, I would hate to have to bug-out to NH with 4 kids, wife, 3 cats, 18 chickens and a baby...

Seems like folks are overlooking the thing that is second only to breathable air.

Potable water.

If you dont have a container (1qt nalgene for example) for collecting and drinking then you're not going to get far lugging around that 100lb sack of stuff.

Second, if you don't have a means for making that water safe then you may be rendered useless a day/two after.

For a BOB consider water purification tabs you can get from any outdoor/camping store......a purification pump is probably overkill for a BOB due to weight and space it takes up
